It’s hard enough for young rock musicians under the age of 18 to find a place to perform. And it’s even harder for rock fans of the same age to find a place to watch live rock bands.

But here in Carmel, the School of Rock will be hosting a summer concert series that should provide a safe place for people of all ages to enjoy some great young rock musicians.

Every Saturday this summer from June 10 to Aug. 15, the School of Rock will be showing off their young students at Three D’s Pub and Café, located at 13644 N Meridian St. No event will be held July 4. Doors will open at 8 p.m. and these free shows are expected to last until around 10 p.m.

“We’re hoping this will give kids and families something fun and free to do this summer, exposing them to Indy-based bands they normally may not have been able to go see, let alone with the whole family,” said Elyse Causey, general manager of School of Rock Carmel, which is located on Range Line Road.

School of Rock has gotten help from Ben Cannon at Shine Indy to help line up bands and the School of Rock is serving as the opening act every time. Shine Indy is a, “an organization made of local musicians helping other local musicians” that not only books local artists but helps provide recording services.

Three D’s is set up for all ages in the backroom and can hold 200 people or so in the space. Causey said it’s a great opportunity for their young students to perform at such as great venue in front of attentive audiences.

“Carmel has such a vibrant arts-centered community, and we’re excited to be offering another opportunity for Carmel families to support the arts and music community, both of established bands and of up and coming student musicians,” she said.
