Standoff ends in arrest after five hours

One person is in custody in Hamilton County after barricading himself inside a home in the 15600 block of River Road early on June 4. Arrested was Bryan S. Young, 31, Noblesville.

Hamilton County Sheriff deputies first responded to the area after a report of a vehicle crash near 160th Street on River Road around 10 p.m. June 3. A witness to the crash observed the suspect flee from a crash into a utility pole and then saw the suspect enter a home near the crash site.

According to the initial report, when deputies arrived at the home, Young displayed a large knife, allegedly threatening officers. He then retreated into the home and barricaded himself inside with four children of various ages.

Noblesville negotiators and the Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team were dispatched to assist with the situation while a warrant was obtained. At approximately 2:45 a.m., Young stated he would talk through a large window at the rear of the residence. Officers were able to breach a door near the window and take Young into custody at that time.

Young was taken to the Hamilton County jail where he was booked at 3:16 a.m. and charged with one count of Leaving the Scene of an Accident and two counts of Intimidation. Bond has been set at $17,500.
