Lightening catches fire at Geist home

Fishers Fire and Emergency Services were called in for a fire at a Geist home at 1509 Geist Ridge Dr. on the evening of May 30. At approximately 6 p.m., Fishers firefighters were on the scene battling the fire at a large, residential structure. Reports suggest that lightening during the severe weather occurring that evening may have caused the fire.

Firefighters were on their way to a different lightning strike incident when they saw heavy smoke coming from the residence and rerouted to its location.

Approximately 30 firefighters attacked the blaze with firefighters assisting from Carmel, Indianapolis and Noblesville fire departments. The fire was successfully controlled in less than an hour.

No damage estimates have been released as of press time.
