The Indiana Design Center in Carmel is getting ready to let people put their bargain-hunting skills to the test with their upcoming annual sample sale. It’s the time of year when the IDC clears out its inventory and shoppers get to reap the benefits, scoring designer furniture and locally made pieces at steep discounts.

The IDC houses 82,000 square feet of home fixtures and furnishings, including everything from fabrics to kitchen and bath product, lighting, wallcoverings and accessories. Different showrooms within the Design Center offer a wide variety of décor options, and during the sample sale, you’ll be able to find them at up to 50 percent off.

“We have about 15 showrooms in the building that showcase everything from drapery to furniture, all kinds of things for the home. During the sample sale, floor models and items that we’re looking to clear out are put at a great discount,” Andrea Kleymeyer, marketing director at the Design Center, said.

The sample sale is a spring tradition that’s free and open to the public. The types of products for sale vary, from widely known designer brands to one-of-a-kind furniture and décor pieces made right in Indiana. On thing is for certain, though: there’s no better time to shop. “It’s a good time to come in and find a great buy,” Kleymeyer said.

Kleymeyer also said the sample sale weekend is always a lot of fun. “It’s a little bit of a hunt,” she said. “People come in at 10 a.m. ready to go, and it’s fun to see what people find.”

The sale starts May 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and runs through the next day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will take place at the Indiana Design Center, located in downtown Carmel at 200 South Range Line Rd. Free parking is available in surface lots and underground garage.
