Every weekend in May, new ‘en plein air’ event to bring artists, spectators to Carmel’s Arts & Design District

Enjoy the month of May by creating art on the streets of the Carmel Arts & Design District during Drawn to the District.  Inspired by the beauty of spring and the District’s picturesque surroundings, this inaugural “en plein air” event adds a vibrant atmosphere to the new season in the Carmel Arts & Design District on Saturdays and Sundays in May from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Drawn to the District, a special month-long event is made possible through a partnership between the City of Carmel and the Carmel Arts & Design District Gallery Association, with nine galleries and nearly 100 merchants representing the district.  http://www.carmelartsanddesign.com/directory/category.asp?cid=2

All are welcome as the District galleries will be open and actively participating in this one-of-a-kind event sure to draw artists and spectators alike from the Carmel community and beyond, each weekend in May.  “Family Friendly Weekends” are also planned to encourage all ages to view or create their own art.

Inspired by last fall’s successful Carmel on Canvas event, the spring version, Drawn to the District, carries its own distinction with a laid back feel, encouraging participants of all abilities to enjoy expressing their creativity in a less competitive atmosphere.

Care to expand the creative experience?  Free art classes are also being offered on certain event weekends. Please see below for registration information.
