Little 500 weekend at Indiana University Bloomington was shocked with a grim discovery April 24. The body of Hamilton South Eastern graduate and IU student Hannah Wilson, 22, was discovered in Brown County. Police began searching for Wilson after a missing persons report had been filed Thursday afternoon.
Police have arrested a single man in connection with the incident. Police have taken Daniel E. Messel, 49, of Bloomington into custody on preliminary murder charges.
Dozens of individuals gathered outside Wilson’s residence in Bloomington in silent grieving. Several Little 500 events were canceled do to the incident.
Indiana University released a statement saying, “The entire IU Bloomington community mourns the tragic death of Hannah Wilson,” IU Spokesperson Mark Land said.” Our deepest sympathies go out to Hannah’s family and friends during this unspeakably sad time.”
