Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Mattingly, 55, Westfield, died in the early morning hours on April 19, 2015. She was born on July 27, 1959 to R. Cameron and Virginia (Rice) Johnston in Indianapolis. Her parents precede her in death.

Liz was the CFO and vice president of Mattingly Concrete Inc., where she had been instrumental in founding it 27 years ago. She had also helped establish and run Just For Starters Inc., and Great Lakes Precast Pots Inc., acting as CFO and president of both companies. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Westfield, and had been active with Meals on Wheels, as well as Agape Therapeutic Riding Academy.

She was a 1977 graduate of North Central High School. After graduating high school, her love of the mountains and horses took her to the University of Wyoming where she began her college experience. She was a graduate of the International Equine School of Riding, at Meredith Manor in W.Va., before graduating from Butler University in 1984. Along with her love for all things plants and animals, Liz loved sailing, Lake Michigan and White Lake, Mich. where she spent summer with her kids and grandchildren. Her last wish was for everyone to “be kind to your animal today.”

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Daniel Mattingly; children, Hannah Mattingly, William (Erica) Mattingly and Stan Mattingly; sisters, Christine Johnston and Mary (Bob) Milne; two grandchildren, Kayden and Kylee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Agape Therapeutic Riding Center, 24970 Mt. Pleasant Rd., PO Box 207, Cicero, IN 46034.
