Jessica Deering is convinced the 11th annual Women of Vision luncheon speaker will attract attendees for two reasons.

Dr. Sarah Johnson will be the speaker for the luncheon on April 23 at the Renaissance Indianapolis North Hotel, 11925 N. Meridian St., Carmel. Medtronic Cardiac and Vascular Group is serving as the speaker sponsor. The event is presented by Riverview Heath Foundation Community Relations Committee.

“Heart health is such a big issue with women in the United States,” said Deering, the Philanthropy Officer for the Riverview Health Foundation. “With her being one of the first women interventional cardiologists, we just thought it hit so many touchpoints on the type of woman who typically attends our event. We hope it draws people who are concerned about their health as well as people who are just looking to be inspired by somebody who has achieved her dreams and goals.”

Dr. Johnson will speak on her medical career journey and address the challenges women face today with their personal health care. Dr.  Johnson is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the Chicago area. She attended University of Illinois Medical School and completed her residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She is board certifie in internal medicine and cardiology.

“We’ve had national speakers in the past and had a budget for it,” Deering said. “But in the past few years we’ve realized there are so many resources here in the Hamilton County who like to share their vision with women so we’ve utilized those resources. Because Medtronic has sponsored Dr. Johnson to speak, that’s why we have this opportunity for this national speaker.”

The Women of Vision was developed with a clear focus.

“It’s for women to build each other up and learn and grow together,”  Deering said.

Registration and shopping begins at 10:30 a.m. with the luncheon atnoon. Tickets for the luncheon are $45 for individuals and $625 for a corporate table. To register, visit riverview.org/womenofvision or call 776-7938.
