Sen. Delph authors resolution to honor Carmel swim team’s achievements

State Sen. Mike Delph (R-Carmel) authored Senate Resolution 39 to recognize the achievements of the Carmel High School Girls Swimming and Diving Team at theIndiana High School Athletic Association’s (IHSAA) 2015 Girls Swimming and Diving State Tournament.

In their competition at the IHSAA State Finals, the Carmel High School Girls Swimming and Diving Team triumphed over the other contenders at the IU Natatorium to win the State Championship. The team finished first in nine of the eleven events and secured second place in the remaining two events. The girls broke records in all three of the relays. Carmel won the swim meet with a record breaking 445 points, 226 points ahead of runner-up Fishers High School.

“The girls not only made some astounding state level achievements, but also some impressive national accomplishments,” Delph said. “These girls have shown a remarkable dedication to their sport, and I am pleased to honor their achievements here at the Statehouse.”

This is the 29th consecutive state championship title for the Carmel girls swimming and diving team. Carmel holds the most state titles in Indiana, and at 29 wins the girls are tied nationally with the Honolulu Punahou boys swimming team for the most consecutive high school state championships.
