Snapshot: DAR Good Citizens honored

Winners of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Essay and Scholarship contest were honored on Monday, March 9 at a luncheon hosted by the local Horseshoe Prairie Chapter. Begun in 1934, the Good Citizens Award recognizes students who possess to an outstanding degree the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Winners from each of the participating schools received pins and certificates, and Benjamin Fowler from Hamilton Heights High School, the chapter winner, received an additional monetary award and commemorative flag flown over the United States Capitol in his honor.
