Traders Point Christian Academy kindergarten classes recently presented the school with a “Buddy Bench.”

“The bench will be on our playground, and any child who feels lonely or needs a friend can sit on the bench. All the kids will keep an eye out and invite anyone on the bench to come and play with them,” said Vicki Lehr, a kindergarten teacher at TPCA.

The school’s kindergarten teachers and their families came up with the idea for the bench and funded it themselves.

“The school’s them this year is ‘Love One Another,’ and this is a great way for our students to learn about and practice that in a tangible way,” said Toni Kanzler, TPCA admissions director.

The bench has already received rave reviews from parents.

“My daughter told me yesterday that she saw a little girl sitting on this bench and invited her to play with her and some other friends,” TPCA parent Stacie Wortley said. “She said they had a great time and loves that she’s found a new friend.”
