Employees from the St. Vincent Health EMS Education Department came to the Zionsville Fire Department to assist in some advanced life support refresher training with the firefighter/paramedic staff. During the course of four days, all of the on-duty firefighter/paramedics rotated through ZFD Station 91 to brush up on skills such as starting IVs, giving medication injections and inserting advanced airways. Mindy Collins, the senior education coordinator for St. Vincent EMS education, and Steve Gilliam, ZFD division chief of EMS, worked together to facilitate the training. Joey Cooper, clinical coordinator for EMS education also assisted with teaching and evaluating skills.
