There will be some new wrinkles to the Hamilton County Resource and Health Fair this year, Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County founder and executive director Nancy Chance said.

The sixth annual fair will be helped from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on March 26 at the Hamilton County 4H Fairgrounds in Noblesville.

“We’re going to be signing up people that want to sign up for the new Indiana Insurance (HIP 2.0),” said Chance, whose Fishers-based Good Samaritan Network coordinates the event. “We’re going to have all the navigators for all five (county) hospitals that will be there in separate booths that will be able to help the clients just like we did last year with Obamacare, only this year we’re going to do it with the state insurance.”

The program is Indiana’s consumer-driven health care coverage program for low-income adults.

Another new addition this year is the Caregivers Connection, which will be available in separate area of the facility.

“We’re probably have 25 booths for caregivers,” Chance said. “People have parents that are coming to live here and they are asking questions on ‘If mom or dad need this or this, where do I go?’ All the agencies will be in one area.”

The free admission event, which will have more than 150 booths, is open to the public.

Chance said area restaurant gift cards will be among the prizes awarded to those participants who complete a survey at the event.

“We used that for the Partnership for Helping Hamilton County,” Chance said. “All five hospitals came together in a partnership under Good Samaritan. What we’re doing is trying to flesh out some of the problems in the county.”

Chance said there will be free health screenings available, including lung health, spinal mobility, stress survey, chiropractic screen, respiratory and blood pressure.”

Chance pointed out Indiana was recently ranked 48 among states in the Gallup Healthways Well-Being Index. The rankings based on phone interviews, measures well-being across five categories, purpose, social, financial, community and physical.

“That’s not acceptable,” Chance said.

Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County coordinates the event. The sponsors include Indiana University Health, Riverview Health, St.Vincent Carmel, St. Francis Health Carmel, Community Health Network, Sodexo, Partnership For A Healthy Hamilton County and Hamilton County Health Department.

The Indiana Department of Child Services Hamilton County Office will be a featured exhibitor at the event, emphasizing two critical areas: protection of children and child support enforcement. The department’s mission is to protect children from abuse and neglect by partnering with families and communities to provide safe, nurturing and stable homes.

Several food, clothing and baby pantries will be represented.

Information for registering as an exhibitor/vendor (which includes booth space) can be completed by visiting the Good Samaritan Network website (www.gsnlive.org). Exhibitor and vendor registration is required.
