It’s the great equalizer and the common denominator of every high school experience. Students can’t avoid it, but thanks to Bryan Passwater, they can conquer the SAT.

Passwater, now the math content director at the University of Notre Dame, has 10 years of experience tutoring students and helping them succeed on the SAT. Formerly a classroom teacher, Passwater knows how to work with students, and as the current overseer of AP math courses across the state, he has plenty of experience with the companies that both write and administer the SAT.

Passwater has been in the business of improving standardized testing scores and preparing students for the SAT through his small business, 800 Club SAT Prep.

“Just recently in the last year, I’ve really been looking to expand it,” Passwater said about 800 Club. “My goal was to bring it to the local areas.”

A resident of Carmel, Passwater really wants to put local students who might not be able to afford a full, paid SAT class on “level footing with kids who are paying for quality prep.”

“My job at the University opened my eyes a lot to the large number of kids that needed tutoring and didn’t have the resources,” Passwater said.

In response, he developed a free two-to-three-hour class focused on loading up kids with tips and tricks that help them succeed as well as going over concepts that are highly tested and often missed. The class is cohesive as well as engaging for the students.

“They’re not just bored doing SAT prep, but they’re up and active,” Passwater said. “We hope to just have a packed house of kids.”

The class will be offered twice this fall to Zionsville and surrounding-area students. The dates and location have not yet been decided, but interested students can contact Passwater at [email protected] for more details.
