Election: A look at Sharp’s mailing

0

City Councilor Rick Sharp has made it clear he is interested in running against Mayor Jim Brainard in the next primary election. For Carmel, the Republican primary is essentially the main election. Often Democrats don’t even run a candidate in all city races.

Sharp hasn’t officially announced because he wants to keep his options open. Maybe he runs for a City Council at large seat instead of running in his own district. Maybe he looks at other opportunities. But he’s not retiring. He wants to be involved.

Sharp is taking all of the steps needed to run for mayor. He’s doing the interviews, such as a chat on WIBC this week. He’s also raising money.

I’ve received a copy of a letter that “Friends of Rick Sharp” is sending out to Carmel voters. I wanted to post it so you could comment on his statements.

This is not an endorsement of Sharp or his campaign. I am not saying anything good or anything bad about Rick Sharp or Mayor Brainard. I just know this is an important race and so it’s interesting to look at what one candidate has to say. He makes some interesting statements. Maybe you agree with Sharp and maybe you disagree with him.

If you have any letters from other candidates that you want to share, e-mail them to [email protected]. We will attempt to provide equal coverage of all candidates. Just provide us with the information and we’ll attempt to be balanced.

What do you think of Sharp’s statements in his letter?
