CIN-COM-Teacher Moody

Moody is a music teacher at Hazel Dell Elementary. She is Orff Level 2 certified (a unique approach to music education based on the teachings of Carl Orff) and has received the Noblesville Education Foundation Scholarship. As a teacher, she has led the fourth-grade Folk Dance Club and fifth-grade Orff Ensembles with 40 students every year.

Why did you become a teacher? I became a teacher because I love music and wanted to share it with others. As soon as I could talk I was singing, as soon as I could walk I was dancing. Every music teacher who taught me became my idol, especially my mom who is also a music teacher.

What are the goals for your students? My goal for my students is for them to love making music. Every time they walk through my door they know we will be making music, not just learning facts about it.

What advice would you give to parents? Not being a parent myself, I do not have much advice except this: Encourage your kids to be well-rounded individuals and appreciate all things, even if it is not their favorite.

What makes Noblesville Schools special? I think what makes Noblesville Schools special is the people. The students, the parents and the teachers working together to make learning happen.

What is something others might not know about you? My students as Hazel Dell know this, but I am the queen of making bad cheesy jokes. Thank you kids for laughing anyway.
