The following message was sent to parents and guardians of Zionsville Community Schools students today.

Eagle Parents and Guardians,

The ZCS family is grieving the loss of long time ZCHS Bus Driver Steve Greger who unexpectedly passed away on Sunday evening of an apparent heart attack.  For the past 10 years Steve touched the lives of many of our students as he drove the daily route for his students on Bus 5 and countless athletic and academic fieldtrips.

Today, at the end of sixth period we shared this sad news with our students and the counselors were available to provide grief counseling and gathering time for our students to remember Mr. Greger.  Transportation staff will be on Mr. Greger’s bus this afternoon to assist in supporting our students and connecting them with any additional grief counseling they may need.  Please take a moment this evening to talk with your child about how they are coping with their emotions and feelings during this difficult time.  Our counselors can provide you with resources for those in need of additional support.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Greger family and we will pass along the arrangements as soon as they are known.

With Heavy Heart,

Mr. East
