Douglas Roy Gilbert, 57, of Noblesville, died Aug.11, 2014 at St.Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis. Born Feb. 22, 1957 in Terre Haute, he was the son of Robert and Joretta (Oneal) Gilbert. His mother survives him.
He received his bachelor of science degree from Indiana State University, and was a member of their alumni association and Theta Chi fraternity. He was also a member of Carmel Lutheran Church and Harbour Trees. He loved golf, music and his dog, Drake. A Notre Dame fan, he was always the life of the party with a great sense of humor. He loved his family, and gave the ultimate gift of life to others through organ and tissue donation.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Gilbert; son, Griffin Gilbert; daughter, Kiley Gilbert; mother; brother, Mike (Ann) Gilbert; sister, Kathy (Jay) Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Hector Reyes.
Funeral services were held Aug. 16 at Carmel Lutheran Church, 4850 E. Main St., Carmel, with the Rev. Daniel Schumm officiating. Burial followed at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery in Noblesville.
