Noblesville High School student body president Sara Sigman plans to expand on the work her sister started two years ago.

“I’m really looking forward to being in that leadership role,” the 18-year-old NHS senior said. “I want to bring all grades together, more so than the past year.”

As NHS student body president in 2012, Kelsey Sigman founded Live2Serve as a way to encourage her peers to give back to the community, which included more than 100 students. To assist families in need, Live2Serve started a donation drive that ranked as one of the most successful in NHS history by collecting coats, nonperishable food items and money, all of which was given to the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County.

A sophomore at the time, Sara said she worked behind the scenes with her sister in Live 2 Serve.

“She and I worked on a lot of the things together. I was a good experience for Kelsey and (me). I knew she was doing something great and I was there helping her with it,” Sara said.

In the fall/winter Sara said the organization hosts a food and coat drive. The group also will hold a fundraising ping pong tournament in late spring, which will be used to create a Kids Against Hunger packing party.

“It’s all about giving back to the community locally,” she said.

Sara said the best advice she received from Kelsey was to “pray about it.”

“That really helped her when she was president. To rely on your faith, work toward the right path and have fun,” she said.

Sigman’s said her main goal is to heighten the school’s togetherness.

“Freshmen are back at our school. They’ve been separate in past years and we’ve been able to work around it, but it’s hard to keep them connected,” she said. “I want every single grade is involved and working together for a common goal. I want to raise participation levels.”

Sigman served as class president her junior and sophomore years and is involved in the internship program at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel. She is in the top 10 percent of her class and a member of National Honors Society and the Croquet Club (creative writing). She enjoys writing, singing and playing guitar, and is currently training for her first triathlon in August.
