Letter: Tilted Kilt shouldn’t open

Editor,

In the last week or so, I’ve mentioned to several people that I think Carmel is such a great place to live and that I’m so grateful to live here. Driving through downtown Carmel on a summer night, you see the town just alive with people and everyone is out and about and it’s so fun. So when I read the article in this past Current about the Tilted Kilt opening here in the fall, I was really disappointed – especially because, according to the article, they’re known for their “scantily-clad, buxom waitresses with bare midriffs and short plaid kilts.” No doubt it would probably be a popular restaurant, but in my opinion it would not add to what makes Carmel a great city. Instead, it would bring a touch of raunchiness to it. I think about how every girl who will work there is somebody’s daughter.

In the Gospel Jesus says that “everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28.)

That’s not to say that everyone or even any man that goes there will have that on his mind, but it won’t be easy, so why take the chance.
