It has just been confirmed that a Zionsville Middle School student hung himself the night of April 25 and passed away in the early morning of April 26.

According to school officials, ISTEP testing in the middle schools will not take place on Monday, April 28, as scheduled.

“All of our counselors will be available to speak to students or staff,” said Zionsville West Middle School Principal, Kris Devereaux, in an email to all teaching staff. “If a student is upset, please contact the office so an adult can meet the student in your room and escort him/her to the office.”

“These are difficult times for all, especially teenagers, so please be sensitive to their needs,” said Devereaux. “Routines are going to be important on Monday because this will provide a feeling of safety, security and normalcy during this unsettling time. Please be in hallways during every passing period, so you can monitor students and their reactions as they speak to peers.”
