Fire hydrant flushing starts April 28

0

Carmel Utilities will begin flushing area fire hydrants to clean sediment out of the water main and to test that all systems are working properly. It will begin April 28 and continue for approximately one week depending on weather.

The flushing is done by City Utility workers in uniform and with Utilities marked vehicles, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While a hydrant is being flushed, nearby residents may experience a temporary drop in water pressure. This is normal and to be expected. Additionally there may be some discoloration of the water after the flushing. This discoloration is temporary and not harmful. Just let your water run until it is clear.
