In a span of three days, the Noblesville Fire Dept. responded to residential and commercial business fires.

At 5:23 p.m. Feb. 2, Noblesville suppression crews arrived at 10558 Sienna Dr. to a fully engulfed garage fire with an adjacent home to the north on fire as well. Division Chief Rick Russell said crews simultaneously fought the garage fire and performed an interior attack on the adjacent home. The entire event was marked under control at 5:49 pm.

Russell said the only occupant home in the house of the fire’s origin was Stacy Birden, who rents the home from Keith Wells with her husband, Rick.

“Stacy states she was sitting on the couch in the living room when she heard a pop sound coming from the garage. Stacy stated she went to investigate the sound and discovered a working fire,” Russell said, adding that Stacy and her dog safely exited through the front door.

The fire caused approximately $150,000 in damages to the Birden home. James and Katie Dillinger owned the adjacent home that was also damaged. That home had approximately $40,000 in damages.

At 3:16 p.m. Jan. 31, the NFD responded to 6835 E. 161st St. on a commercial business fire. Upon fire suppression crews’ arrival at 3:20 p.m., Russell said they noticed smoke coming from all the eaves and overhead garage door of Trinity Ballpark. Fire suppression personnel made an interior attack on the fire and had it under control in approximately 15 minutes.

Russell said worker Todd Elliott discovered fire while he was there to open the indoor facility for business. Michael Stout has owned the facility for approximately 10 years. Russell said the 80- by-110-foot indoor facility’s playing surface is artificial turf. There are five batting cages and two pitching lanes inside.

The fire caused approximately $80,000 to $100,000 in damages.
