CIZ - COM - Library Director Kerry GreenThe New Year brings a new executive director to the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library. “I’ve admired this library for a very long time. It’s a very forward thinking library,” new director, Kerry Green, said. For the past 21-years, Green has worked at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library in Plainfield, Ind. “I worked in a variety of roles. I started out as a desk clerk in circulation and then went to library school. I’ve also worked in teen and adult services, plus, worked as the library’s IT person, so I’ve done a little bit of everything,” Green said.

In 2009, Green said the director of the Plainfield library asked him to take on the role as assistant director. Then, last summer, he said he began looking for director positions. “I’ve always been impressed by the Hussey-Mayfield library. You can immediately feel that people like being here,” he said. It’s this connection to the community that Green said will continue to be a priority. “In the last decade, the role of a library has changed. It’s one of the last places where everyone is welcome, no matter their age,” he said. Green said the library’s role is to become an extension of what the community needs. For example, Green said one of his goals is to continue to promote early childhood literacy.

Green said he’s excited to take on this new role and promised to maintain the high quality services that people have come to expect from the Hussey-Mayfield library. Green began his new roll January 2nd.
