At 9:45 p.m. Dec. 29, Noblesville police officers were dispatched to check local dental offices for possible evidence of criminal activity as a result of a county-wide alert which was prompted by the Carmel Police Dept. Noblesville Spokesman Lt. Bruce Barnes said officers discovered stolen evidence in the backseat of the vehicle driven by Anthony Wayne Reed, 52, of Indianapolis shortly after conducting a traffic stop in the area of 106th Street and Keystone Parkway in Carmel.

“Officers from Carmel Police Dept. indicated that they had discovered several televisions and laptop computers inside a vehicle that was stopped for an alleged violation of Indiana’s licensing and registration laws,” Barnes said. “Officers indicated that some of the contents located in the vehicle suggested a possible connection to a dental clinic or office.”

Barnes said Noblesville officers began to check local businesses and subsequently discovered several businesses in the 400 block of Sheridan Road that appeared to have been burglarized. The businesses included Noblesville Family Dentistry, 455 Sheridan Rd.; Meridian Title, 465 Sheridan Rd.; and Noblesville Foot Clinic, 475 Sheridan Rd.

After further investigation of each crime scene, Barnes said evidence suggests that a crowbar was used to force entry in each business by prying open front and/or rear doors to each establishment.

“Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division were called to the scene in order to process evidence and to interview victims and witnesses,” Barnes said, adding the three business owners reported several items missing which included televisions and laptop computers.

As a result of the investigation and evidence collected at the crime scenes, investigators were able to identify Reed, who had been arrested earlier on an unrelated alleged driving offense by Carmel officers, as the suspect in the case.

Reed has been charged with three counts of burglary, a Class C felony, and three counts of theft, a Class D felony.
