NFD pancake breakfast

The Noblesville Fire Dept. will kick off Fire Prevention Week with an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 5 at 135 S. Ninth St. This year’s event is sponsored by Teachers Credit Union.

Firefighters will be selling Breast Cancer Awareness Month-themed NFD T-shirts at the breakfast with proceeds going to the Megan S. Ott Foundation. Ott, who attended Noblesville High School, lost her battle with Breast Cancer in 2010 at the age of 34. The Megan S. Ott Foundation helps families who are coping with the devastating effects of breast cancer.

The 2013 Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 6 through 12. Each October, the NFD teams up with the National Fire Protection Association to highlight the importance of fire safety education. The theme for this year’s campaign is to encourage residents to “Prevent Kitchen Fires.”
