Carmel High School welcomes the community to participate in homecoming festivities leading up to the Carmel vs. Lawrence North football game Sept. 20.

The school hopes members of the community will place bids in a fundraising event that will demonstrate the construction skill of teams from each grade level plus the faculty. On the night of Sept. 18, these high school teams will race to build five children’s playhouses in four hours.

Once completed, the playhouses may be viewed at the southeast corner of the stadium during the football game. Playhouses also can be viewed and bid on at http://www1.ccs.k12.in.us/chs/chsplayhouses.

Bidding will begin on the morning of Sept. 20 and offers can be emailed to English teacher John Love at [email protected]. Bidders should include their name, contact email, house bidding on, daytime and evening phone numbers and the amount bid. After 4 p.m. Sept. 20, bidders will be alerted by phone if they have been outbid for an opportunity to rebid.

Each team’s playhouse will raise funds for one of the following charities: Carmel Clay Education Foundation, Hamilton County Humane Society, Carmel Clay Public Library, Theraplay and Chaucie’s Place.

The community is invited to a tailgate before the game to raise funds for the American Cancer Association. Tailgate for Life begins at 5 p.m. on Sept. 20 in the CHS parking lot, and a $5 entry fee covers a variety of food plus entertainment including music, raffles, games and prizes.

During the game, alumni are invited to the hospitality room under the student section of the stadium for free food, refreshments and camaraderie.

At noon Sept. 20, the homecoming parade will march through town. Starting at the school, the parade will head west on Main Street, north on Range Line and east on Smoky Row Road to an endpoint on Greyhound Trail.

Many locations in the Carmel Arts and Design District will offer discounts on the day of the homecoming parade. Detour patrons will receive 15 percent off of dining purchases, excluding alcohol and tax. Auntie Em’s Frozen Custard & Cupcakes will provide $1 scoops.

Everyone is invited to share their school spirit on Twitter and Facebook by including #CHShomecoming2013 in their tweets and posts. Stay updated on events and the playhouse auction at http://myccs.ccs.k12.in.us/district/homecoming/.
