A 50-year-old Anderson man was killed after his motorcycle crashed in northern Noblesville on Aug. 2.

Shortly before 6 p.m., Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on Strawtown Avenue at Prairie Baptist Road. Upon arriving with the medics, deputies found the motorcycle with the driver close by in a bean field on the south side of Strawtown Avenue, according to Deputy Bryant Orem. The driver, Darin Ibey, 50, of Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Orem said an initial investigation of the crash showed Ibey was traveling eastbound on Strawtown Avenue when, for an unknown reason, the 1998 red Kawasaki ZX900 motorcycle he was driving left the roadway.

“There were no witnesses to the crash and Ibey was found by a passing motorist,” Orem said. “It was unclear when Ibey crashed or how long he had been there.”

Orem said the initial report indicated there was no sign of intoxication or excessive speed, however, Ibey was not wearing a helmet. Further information is pending autopsy and toxicology reports.
