Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health has been ranked in 10 out of 10 pediatric specialties for the third consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report, which released its 2013-14 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings today. Riley at IU Health remains the only children’s hospital in Indiana to be nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report.

“Every parent’s number one concern is the health and wellbeing of their child,” said Dr. Jeff Sperring, Riley at IU Health president and chief executive officer. “Our number one priority at Riley at IU Health is to deliver the very best care to families during one of life’s most vulnerable times. Rankings like these are a reflection of the dedication by our team to making sure that every patient, every family, is well cared for when they choose Riley at IU Health.”

The U.S. News & World Report rankings highlight the top 50 U.S. hospitals in 10 pediatric specialties. Two of Riley at IU Health’s specialty programs ranked in the top 10 in the nation; eight out of 10 ranked in the top 25. Here, the full list:

•    Urology – 5th
•    Diabetes & Endocrinology – 9th

•    Gastroenterology & GI surgery – 23rd

U.S. News & World Report introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families of sick children find the best medical care available. The rankings are based on a combination of factors including patient outcomes, the resources a pediatric facility makes available to patients and families, as well as a hospital’s reputation among pediatric specialists across the country.

The rankings can be viewed online and will be published in the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals 2014 guidebook, available in August.
