CHS grad charged with rape

Police are still trying to find the motivation behind the alleged rape of a Ball State woman by a former Carmel High School football star.

Police claim Aaron Jeffery King II visited his ex-girlfriend’s Muncie apartment on April 24. When she attempted to leave for class, King physically stopped her and forced her to engage in sex. Although the victim attempted to fight back, the former running back duct-taped her face and hands and strangled her until she felt faint, according to Muncie police.

King allegedly apologized to her after the assault, then fled to a Beech Grove hotel, where he was arrested the next day by Muncie police. He remained in the Delaware County Jail last Monday, according to the Sheriff’s department’s website, in lieu of $60,000 bond. He was preliminarily charged with rape, criminal confinement, criminal deviant conduct and strangulation, according to Muncie police.

Det. Jami Brown said the victim was “doing OK” days after the incident. She declined to give the full extent of her injuries. She said authorities were still trying to determine why King was at his ex-girlfriend’s home.

“There was no reason for him to be here (in Muncie),” Brown said last Monday. “He doesn’t have employment or live here.”

According to King’s infrequently updated Facebook page, which remained open this week, he is engaged to a local Carmel woman, who Brown said was not the alleged victim.

This is not the first time King has been in trouble with law enforcement. In 2011, King was charged with misdemeanor battery, felony battery resulting in bodily injury to a law enforcement officer and two misdemeanor counts of resisting law enforcement. He would later agree to a plea agreement that dropped all the charges save for one misdemeanor count. He spent four days in jail and was sentenced to 361 days of probation.

Earlier this year, he was cited on five different occasions for either driving with no financial responsibility or driving while suspended.

King graduated from Carmel High School in 2008, holding the record for most rushing yards in the school’s history. He attended Ball State the following year, but it’s not believed he ever made it into a game for the Cardinals football team.
