Ballarephoto2Judy and Daniel Corsaro met on the dance floor and now their passion for all things ballroom has led to the opening of their own dance studio.

“Dance has been a huge part of our lives, and it’s always been his dream to do this full-time,” said Judy, co-owner of Ballare Ballroom, 111 Medical Dr. “His father actually was a dancer and danced with Fred Astaire. I am not sure where my passion for dance came from, but after my first lesson, I was hooked.”

The studio will host an open house from noon to 5 p.m. today (May 4).

“We’ll have some people dancing and refreshments – it will be very casual,” Judy said. “We want people to come see what we have and just have a good time, dance a little, it will be fun.”

Ballare (which means dance in Italian) Ballroom will offer both styles of ballroom – American and international.

“It’s a unique studio because we do not sign people to contracts. You just pay per lesson and take what you want to take,” Judy said. “This is student driven, and we want to provide what people want and get them dancing. We love it so much and think it’s a fun thing to do as a couple instead of a movie or dinner – it’s just a lovely way to spend a night.”

Prices range from $60 to $90 per hour. Group lessons start at $10.

“Anyone can come and join the group and learn that way,” Judy said. “New people are always welcome. We encourage them to come in and to feel comfortable dancing and just really get the same joy out of it that we do.”

Ballare, which features a large and a small ballroom, as well as a kitchen, will also be available for wedding receptions.

“We really hope to just bring people in for all kinds of fun things,” Judy said.

Because for the Corsaro’s, this isn’t just a business, but a labor of love.

“We want to share this with other people since this is how we met – dancing,” Judy said.
