Celebrate You and Your Library!

0

National Library Week is April 14 – 20 at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library and our librarians’ favorite way to celebrate is to celebrate their customers. Three unique gift baskets will be given away – a youth basket, a teen basket and an adult basket which are displayed in each department. Library visitors may enter once a day for a chance to win at either the Youth Services reference desk or Teen and Adult Services reference desk between April 14 and 20. Winners will be notified  on April 22.

Since 1958, National Library Week has been sponsored each April by the American Library Association and recognized by libraries throughout the country, including Zionsville’s Hussey-Mayfield Library. National Library Week is designated as a time to highlight the value of libraries, librarians and library workers, and to celebrate the library as the heart of the community; a place for camaraderie, knowledge and entertainment.

The Zionsville Library offers programs for all ages, stays up-to-date with technological advances, and provides reliable resources for studies from kindergarten through a doctoral degree. The librarians like to have fun too, with Wii gaming, film discussions, and story times. They also bring in knowledgeable speakers to give residents the inside scoop on gardening, and other cultures and traditions. They sing songs, are masters of duct tape, help all ages learn about life a long time ago, discuss books over coffee, and boost computer skills.

The Library can loan cardholders up to five eBooks at a time, fill speakers with music, and offer a new way to learn a different language, all through their online downloadable services. Plus, the shelves are full of audiobooks, the latest new releases and classics on DVD and Blu-Ray, and, of course, books. Whatever type of book you prefer – audio, electronic or print – the Library has it. It’s just waiting to be checked out.

Library materials and programs are available to Zionsville residents at no cost and the staff at Hussey-Mayfield Library works hard behind the scenes to keep it that way. They want the Zionsville Library to be one of the best around, so librarians regularly write grants, plan activities down to the tiniest detail, build the collection, and keep thousands of items physically moving every day from the shelves to the hands of Zionsville residents, to the return boxes and back again.

Come in and help us celebrate you and the Library during National Library Week! Let’s make those visits a habit.
