At tonight’s Carmel Clay school board meeting, Board Member Patricia Hackert announced the names of the three finalists for the position of Carmel Clay Schools superintendent. The finalists are Dr. Eric Ban, Dr. Bruce Hibbard and Dr. Mary Ann Dewan.

Each candidate will be taking part in a day-long, second-round interview this week, each with a public forum.

Each Public Forum will consist of a short reception, opening remarks from the candidate and a public question-and-answer session.

CCS provided short biographies of the candidates at the time of the announcement:

Dr. Ban is currently the Senior Vice President of Academic Partnerships with Best Associates and founder of College Acceleration Network.  Past public education experience includes being principal at Crown Point High School and a visiting professor at Indiana University. Dr. Ban also authored a book entitled, College Acceleration: Innovating through the New American Research High School.

Dr. Hibbard is currently Superintendent of New Albany Floyd County Schools. Previously, Dr. Hibbard was assistant superintendent of M.S.D. Washington Township, middle school principal in the North Montgomery Community School Corporation, and assistant principal at Noblesville High School.

Dr. Dewan is currently the Executive Director (superintendent) of Central Indiana Educational Services Center (CIESC).  Previously, Dr. Dewan held positions as assistant superintendent, director of special services, and elementary principal in M.S.D. Wayne Township.

Carmel Supt. Dr. Jeff Swensson announced at a school board meeting late last year that he would be stepping down from his position at the end of June. Swensson has not yet announced any plans for his future employment or possible retirement.
