Free cancer screenings offered

Riverview Hospital is offering free colorectal cancer screening kits during March in recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer among men and women, and it often has no signs or symptoms. Most of these deaths could be prevented with a simple screening for people older than the age of 50, or those with a family history of colorectal cancer.

“A simple screening offers the single best method of discovering colorectal cancer at a treatable stage,” said Thomas C. Dugan, a board certified radiation oncologist with Riverview Hospital Cancer Center.

To receive your free colorectal cancer screening kit, visit www.riverview.org and complete the colorectal cancer screening form. If you are eligible for a screening kit, bring a copy of your form to the Riverview Hospital Cancer Center. Forms will also be available at the Riverview Hospital Cancer Center.
