After operating a sister symphony since 2007 in Noblesville, the Anderson Symphony Orchestra will combine the two entities, holding all performances in Anderson beginning in the 2013-2014 season.  Officials said the move is designed to attract a larger out-of-county audience to Anderson for performances, and enhance the overall customer experience through its partnership with the Historic Paramount.

“We have heard so many positive things about the Paramount from people who have come to performances in this breathtaking, historic venue,” Dana Stone, Anderson Symphony Orchestra executive director, said. “We’re excited to introduce our Hamilton County audience – which comprises 40 percent of our base – to the unique experience that the Paramount offers.”

Concerts in Noblesville have been held in the high school auditorium.

“The venue is acoustically splendid but logistics such as parking, concessions, and set-up have been challenging.” said Stone.  “Luckily Anderson is just a short 20-30 minute ride from Noblesville, and we have a free parking garage a half block from the theatre entrance, seating for more than 1,400, concessions, and event space for after-parties and lectures.”

In addition to Anderson-based expansion, the ASO is set to deliver one of the most interesting, complex seasons of music in its 46 history.

The symphony will grow artistically through massive orchestral works like Mahler’s First Symphony, The Titan, with 85 professional musicians on October 12th and Carl Orff’s famous Carmina Burana with solo vocalists and chorus of 150 in April, 2014.  Five-time Grammy Winner Sandi Patty is joining orchestra for a Valentine’s Concert in 2014.

“These blockbuster concerts are possible because our energy will be focused on one orchestra and one venue,” ASO Music Director Richard Sowers said. “For six seasons we have enjoyed being a part of the Noblesville cultural fabric, but we know the best way to grow for the future is within the historic walls of the Paramount Theatre in downtown Anderson.”
