Five Carmel High School art students competed last weekend in the Youth Art Month State Art Competition at the Indiana Statehouse. Supt. of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz recognized the talent and hard work of Franci Figueroa who won honorable mention and Alex Mikev who won overall best of show. As state champion, Mikev will be honored with an all-expenses paid trip to New York City to enjoy art museums and a Broadway play. The artwork will be on display throughout this month at the Indiana Statehouse, 200 W. Washington St., Indianapolis.
