Upcoming events:

Free tax assistance – AARP is again offering free tax assistance. Representatives are in the Sumner Room every Friday now through April 4. You need to call 896-9391 ext. 117 to reserve a spot in advance, and appointments are available between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

For mystery lovers – The Westfield Washington Public Library’s Mystery Book Discussion Group is talking about “Every Crooked Nanny,” by Kathy Trocheck, when they meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday. You are invited even if you haven’t read the book.

Waggin’ tales – A very special program where kids can read a story to a book-loving dog, “Paws and Read,” is 10:30 a.m. Saturday. This activity increases a child’s confidence, generates excitement about reading and makes learning fun. Dogs provide rapt attention and children read aloud without fear of criticism or interruption. Stop by the Children’s Desk to schedule 10 minutes of special time with a trained listening dog. This is a free program, but please reserve a time slot.

Hang out – “Whatevah Time for Teens” is on Tuesday, March 12, at 2:30 p.m., in the Craft Room. Spend the afternoon just hanging out, playing the Wii, eating snacks, talking or doing “whatevah.”

Karaoke a tune – How well can you Karaoke a tune? “So You Think You Can Sing” is your chance to find out in front of your friends and other teens at 3 p.m. March 13. Show up and give it a shot.

Card sharps – Are you a euchre enthusiast looking for three other players? Then join in the fun when the WWPL Euchre Group meets at 5:30 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Come enjoy a relaxing evening of fun with some great people at this free program on March 13.

Photo fun – WWPL will host a photo scavenger hunt for teens at 3 p.m. March 14. We give you the list and you do the hunt. Take pictures and win prizes by yourself or as a team. Use your own camera or phone or borrow one of ours (limited quantity available).
