Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Announces 2013 Marsh Symphony on the Prairie Season

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s 32nd annual Marsh Symphony on the Prairie season was unveiled and highlights the “classics” in a wide variety of genres – from Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony and composer John Williams’ movie music to the music of The Rolling Stones, Motown and jazz. From June 21 through Sept. 1, the ISO will present 24 concerts over the course of 11 weekends at the Conner Prairie Amphitheater in Fishers, Ind. Starting Feb. 25, patrons can purchase Value Packs (10 concert tickets) for $165, which is a savings of 40 percent off of single ticket prices. From Apr. 26 to June 21, Value Packs are $190. Season table subscriptions (seating up to 10) may be purchased for $388 for 11 tables. Groups of 30 people or more can take advantage of group discounts. Single tickets will go on sale Monday, April 15. Single tickets in advance at all Indiana Marsh and MainStreet locations are priced at $23 for adults and $12 for children. Gate prices for single tickets are $28 for adults and $14 for children. For premium concerts on July 3-5 and Aug. 30, 31 and Sept. 1, advance ticket prices are $29 for adults and $12 for children. Premium concert gate prices are $32 for adults and $14 for children. Single tables can be purchased beginning April 15 and are priced at $59 each (premium concert tables are $79).

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra kicks off the summer series with classical masterworks with a romantic theme, such as Rimsky-Korsakov’s epic work, Scheherazade, and more.

Movie Music of John Williams

The ISO celebrates renowned composer John Williams in a concert weekend dedicated to some of his most memorable film scores. ISO musicians Braham Dembar (Principal Percussion) and Mark Ortwein (Assistant Principal Bassoon) add a special touch with an excerpt from Escapades for Saxophone and Orchestra from the film, “Catch Me If You Can.”

ISO Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly takes a trip down memory lane on the Classic FM dial with a symphonic tribute to ’50s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s iconic rock ‘n’ roll, disco and pop music.

50 Years of Rock ‘n’ Roll: Music of The Rolling Stones

Hailed as “the World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band” by The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Rolling Stones celebrated 50 years together in 2012. Brent Havens and the ISO highlight this award-winning group’s signature sound with hits such as “I Can’t Get No (Satisfaction),” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Start Me Up.”

Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4

ISO Assistant Conductor David Glover leads the ISO in two evenings of Tchaikovsky’s monumental Fourth Symphony, a work the composer himself said is “better than anything I’ve done so far.”

In a special partnership with Indy Jazz Fest, the art form called “the purest expression of American democracy; a music built on individualism and compromise, independence and cooperation,” will debut exclusively in a concert weekend on the Conner Prairie stage.

After a successful debut at the Conner Prairie Amphitheatre in 2012, the Motown group, The Contours, returns to recreate the vocals and polished choreography of the artists representing that famous Detroit-based label.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

2013 marks the 20th anniversary of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s arrival onto the music scene. With the release of their new CD, Rattle Them Bones, BBVD comes back to the Prairie with its signature grooves, “Why Me,” “The Jitters,” “Diga Diga Do” and more.

Return of River City Brass Band

From California to New York, River City Brass Band delights audiences with its signature blend of brass and percussion and its renditions of many jazz, big band, swing and American standards.

Classical Mystery Tour: Music of the Beatles

The group that has lit up Marsh Symphony on the Prairie for the past six summers returns to lead audiences through mosaic of many Beatles’ favorites and pays tribute to the 45th anniversary of the group’s universally-acclaimed White Album, listed as No. 10 on Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
