Industry expert speaks at the Barrington of Carmel

The Barrington of Carmel, a life care senior living resort under construction in Carmel, welcomed charter members and special guests for a special lunch featuring senior living industry expert John Spooner who gave practical advice for planning your personal, financial and health care security. Spooner, who has 26 years of senior living experience, offered insights into the myths and realities of community life.

“John Spooner offered great advice regarding living in a life care community,” said Dana Shore, director of sales and marketing at The Barrington.  “The Carmel community is still new to the idea of resort living during one’s retirement years, yet The Barrington will be right here in Carmel offering a multitude of amenities, plus life care.  It will be a great place to retire!”

Speaking to a full house at the Ritz Charles, Spooner addressed the benefits of senior housing, and how the industry has completely revolutionized in its 100 year history.  The coming years will see a high demand for senior care as thousands of baby boomers will retire each day, so it is key to get in now while you want it, versus need it.  When The Barrington opens later this year, it will offer estate preservation, priority access to high quality healthcare when needed and a resident will never be asked to leave, an advantage of being a not-for-profit community.

Situated on a 19-acre campus on Guilford Road off 116th Street, The Barrington will feature 134 maintenance-free, independent living apartment homes and embrace the wellness-minded attitude of today’s older adults.  The community will provide a variety of services and amenities, including fine dining, a bistro, fitness and wellness centers, creative arts studio, salon and spa, library, housekeeping, scheduled transportation and more.

The Barrington of Carmel is sponsored by Mayflower Communities, a Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation affiliate working in partnership with St. Vincent Health.  Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC) is a not-for-profit organization that sponsors and operates the life care communities of Edgemere (Dallas), Querencia at Barton Creek (Austin), The Buckingham (Houston), Mirador (Corpus Christi), and The Stayton at Museum Way (Fort Worth).
