Tourism advertising pays big dividends in Hamilton County

Promoting Hamilton County as a place to visit and play yields a great return on investment. Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau’s 2012 advertising campaign generated about 52,000 trips to Hamilton County with an economic impact of 25 million dollars and a return of 58 tourism dollars for every advertising dollar spent. Hamilton County had two million visitors overall in 2012.

HCCVB focuses on the regional visitor, and in key markets including Fort Wayne and Louisville advertising has raised awareness of Hamilton County by nearly ten percent over the last year.

Studies show that tourism advertising can boost tourism spending by over 30 percent and every dollar spent on tourism marketing brings in about 15 dollars in state tax revenue.

HCCVB spent as little as 50 cents in most cities for each potential visitor household targeted. “We are careful with our advertising dollars to make sure that our message resonates with regional visitors who are remembering Hamilton County when they put their travel plans together”, says Brenda Myers, Executive Director of the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau promotes tourism growth through strategic marketing, hospitality and community development initiatives. It has welcome centers in Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville.
