The Noblesville School district and most of its schools have earned an A on the State of Indiana’s Accountability Report Card for the 2011-12 school year. The grades take into account a variety of factors, namely student performance and student growth.

In addition to the district, Hinkle Creek, Noble Crossing, North and Stony Creek elementary schools, Noblesville East Middle School and Noblesville High School earned A’s. Hazel Dell and White River elementary schools each received a B. The former Noblesville Intermediate School also received a B and that grade is reflected online as a grade for Noblesville West Middle School. Because it is a new school, Promise Road will not receive a grade until next year.

“Our excellent grades are a reflection of the hard work and talent of our teachers and administrators and the cooperation of our families. Our students’ achievement and growth is maximized if we are doing the right work every day with a solid curriculum, artful instruction that actively engages students in their learning, careful and frequent monitoring of student learning throughout the year, and making adjustments as needed for individual students,” said Supt. Libbie Conner. “Noblesville Schools is proud to have such an outstanding staff doing such great work with our students that is reflected in the state’s new A-F Accountability Grading System.”

Statewide, more than 61 percent of Indiana’s schools received A or B letter grades for the 2011-2012.

Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, the Indiana State Board of Education changed labels for school categories based on student performance from the terms Exemplary Progress, Commendable Progress, Academic Progress, Academic Watch and Academic Probation to easy-to-understand letter grades (A, B, C, D and F).

Letter grades for high schools are calculated based on performance (Algebra 1 and English 10 End of Course Assessments), student improvement, graduation rate, and college and career readiness indicators (such as Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and industry certification exams or earning college credits). Letter grades for elementary and middle schools are based upon English/Language Arts and Math ISTEP+ performance, participation and improvement as well as student growth.
