The groundbreaking for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Indianapolis Temple is September 29. The groundbreaking will take place on the site of the future temple located at the southwest corner of 116th St. and Spring Mill Rd. in Carmel.

The 90-minute ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. under the direction of senior Church leader Elder Donald L. Hallstrom of the Presidency of the Seventy. He will be joined by Elder Gregory A. Schwitzer of the Seventy and local Church and community leaders.

“Indianapolis is currently the third largest city in the United States without a temple,” said N. Strait Hill, President of the Indianapolis Stake. “The groundbreaking for a temple here in Indianapolis represents a milestone in growth for the church in Indiana and will serve as a reminder of the faithful members of the church who have lived here for the past several decades.”
