25th annual “Blessing of the Pets” on Sept. 30 to feature Pet Fair

Zionsville’s 25th annual “Blessing of the Pets” is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 in Zionsville.

Make it an “all pet” day:  Zionsville’s annual Pet Parade is earlier the same day.

All pets and their owners are invited to take part in the processional and blessing service, to begin at 5:15 p.m.

All varieties of pets are welcome.  Dogs, cats, goats, chickens, horses, birds, hamsters, goldfish, you name it.  Father Davies says the Blessing event is truly about ‘all creatures great and small.’  “I’ve blessed a snake, an iguana, and guinea pigs,” he recalls.  “I have even blessed a spider.”

And if your pet has gone to Pet Heaven, bring a photo; we will be offering prayers for pets we have known.

Our Pet Fair will kick off at 4:00 pm.  Family-friendly events include:

  • Frisbee dog demonstration
  • Pet Massage demo
  • Meditation with Your Pet:  walk your dog through our Labyrinth.  Learn what alabyrinth is and how to enjoy it
  • Snacks for pets
  • Snacks for people
  • Certificates of Blessing will be available
  •  “Paw Art”:  your pet’s chance to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake!
