Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors have scheduled the planned 15-day ramp closures for Allisonville Road traffic entering Interstate 465.
The entrance ramps on the northwest and southeast corners of the interchange will be closed temporarily to reconstruct segments where the new and existing ramp alignments overlap. The Allisonville Road entrance ramp to westbound I-465 is expected to close on Tuesday, July 31, and the Allisonville Road entrance ramp to eastbound I-465 is expected to close on Thursday, August 2.
Under its construction contract with INDOT, Walsh Constuction of Crown Point will receive an incentive for each day each ramp is reopened earlier than 15 days. Should a ramp closure last longer than 15 days, the contractor will be liable for monetary damages, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
During the temporary ramp closures, Allisonville Road traffic will not be able to enter onto either direction of I-465. Both exit ramps from I-465 to Allisonville Road (Exit 35) will remain open to right turns. Westbound I-465 will be able to exit to northbound Allisonville Road, and eastbound I-465 will be able to exit to southbound Allisonville Road. Traffic is still prohibited from crossing the bridge, which was closed approximately 110 days for reconstruction on May 30.
The official detours for the closures are:
- Northbound Allisonville Road detours west on 86th Street, north on Keystone Avenue and returns east on 96th Street to Allisonville Road.
- Southbound Allisonville Road detours east on 96th Street, south on I-69 and returns west on 82nd Street to Allisonville Road.
