A-10 Thunderbolt flyover planned for next week’s Carmelfest parade

Two A-10 Thunderbolts will perform a flyover at approximately 12:15 pm to honor our military in the St.Vincent 4th of July Parade at CarmelFest. The planes will come in from the South and fly north over Range Line Road.

The pilots are from the 122nd Fighter Wing Blacksnakes at the Fort Wayne Air National Guard. The 122nd Fighter Wing has served the Fort Wayne community since 1946, when it was assigned to the Indiana Air National Guard. The unit currently flies the A-10 Thunderbolt II, also known as the Warthog. It’s primary mission is close air support. It can carry up to 16,000 pounds of mixed ordnance, and boasts a 30 mm ling gun. The 122nd Fighter Wing is always prepared to fly, fight and win.
