Linda L. Kristo

Linda L. Kristo, 75, was born June 26, 1936 in East Detroit, Mich and died June 21, 2012 in Noblesville. She received the following degrees: B.S. Michigan State, M.A. University of Michigan, and PHD from University of Toledo.

Kristo traveled extensively throughout the United States with her husband, George Kristo, while he was employed as a vice president with the Blue Cross organization. The couple settled in Noblesville in 1990 where she opened her private psychology practice seeing more than 3,600 patients in her career.

The IRS considered her book “What You Should Know About Individual Retirement Accounts” the premier reference book on the subject. She was asked to testify before congress on changes in the IRA law and interviewed by the Today Show host Hugh Downs regarding her book. She also authored several other magazine and newspaper articles related to human nature and psychology.

Before embarking on her educational and professional career, Kristo had worked as a barmaid, secretary, accounting clerk at Wayne State University, the Detroit Free Press, school teacher, and librarian.

A leader in “going green,” Kristo and her husband had gone 16 years without the use of an automobile resulting in their story being published in their local Sunday supplement magazine.

For nearly 20 years, she assisted her husband by acting as hostess for the Drug Free New Year’s Eve Party, Summer Family Fun Day, and many other events sponsored by the Hamilton County Council on Alcohol and other Drugs. Her specialty food was her homemade brownies; enjoyed by all.

Her personal philosophy was “to leave the place better than you had found it.”

In addition to her husband, survivors include her niece, Diane Kish, and nephews, John and Christopher Unthank and David Dalton.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 E. 191st St., Noblesville, with the Rev. Tom Metzger officiating. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery.
