The Center for the Performing Arts announced today the appointment of Tania Castroverde Moskalenko as the arts organization’s new President/CEO. She is the second permanent executive to lead the organization and follows Frank Basile, the Center’s interim President/CEO. Basile assumed leadership in July 2011.

“Tania is a dynamic leader. She possesses a rare combination of exemplary management skills and a passion for music and arts. Her background in expanding education and outreach will serve our entire region. The Center’s board and staff are thrilled that she agreed to lead our vibrant organization,” said Rollin Dick, chairman of the Center’s board.

Castroverde Moskalenko has a 14-year history of leading strong, financially viable arts centers. Prior to joining the Center for the Performing Arts, she served as Executive Director of the Germantown Performing Arts Centre (GPAC), located in Tennessee. When she assumed leadership in 2005, the Germantown-based arts center was operating with a deficit of $500K.

During her seven-year tenure at GPAC, she streamlined the organization’s operations erasing the deficit and yielding a surplus of $300K. The turnaround was accomplished without cutting staff nor programming. She developed and implemented a 5-year strategic plan achieving its goals within 2 years. Under her leadership, GPAC doubled its corporate support, quadrupled grant support and developed two individual giving programs: the Presenters Circle, which requires a multi-year commitment, and the Jazz Society, which ensures the continued presentation of jazz at GPAC.

Castroverde Moskalenko holds a BFA in theatre and dance from the University of Memphis. She resides in Germantown, TN, with her husband, Alexei Moskalenko. Their family includes four daughters, Sasha, Mishi, Amanda and Tatiana; and one son, Nikolas.

The CEO search was led by the firm Genovese, Vanderhoof & Associates. A 21-member search committee was selected by the Center’s board of directors. The committee included leaders from the arts, community organizations, government and the private sector.
