flanner and buchananFlanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers, operators of funeral homes and cemeteries throughout Central Indiana, has been chosen to receive the Company of the Year award by the Disabled American Veterans’ Department of Indiana group (DAV).

The award will be presented on Saturday, June 9, at the DAV’s annual state convention at the Caribbean Cove, 3850 DePauw Boulevard, in Indianapolis.

The award’s citation said, “We were very impressed with Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers’ accomplishments and service to Indiana’s veterans and their families.  Your dedication underscores the purpose of your yearly award and typifies the caliber of companies we have chosen to receive it.”

Speaking for Flanner and Buchanan, principal Brian Buchanan said, “We are pleased and honored to receive this award from a distinguished service group that itself does so much to help veterans.  Recognizing those who have fought and died to preserve our freedoms is a long-time tradition at our company, and all our funeral homes and cemeteries are constantly seeking ways to extend our gratitude to these veterans and their families.”

Highlights of the company’s recognition of Indiana’s service members are the annual Veteran’s Day programs and Memorial Day tributes at Washington Park East Cemetery.  The cemetery’s Hoosier Patriot Memorial is the only site in Indiana that honors all Hoosier servicemen and women who have been killed in action since the Vietnam conflict. Their names are etched in glass each Memorial Day.
