Come to the Village Dance Studio in Zionsville on May 12 for the “Showcase of Classes” and see the culmination of the dancers’ work over the past year. The performance will feature styles such as modern, hip-hop, tap, pointe, and of course, ballet.
Come anytime from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to enjoy this event. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
2012 has been packed with activities for the VDS students. In January they performed a flash mob dance for a large crowd at the Super Bowl Village in Indianapolis. Also in January, several dancers performed at a benefit for a ZCS student. VDS dancer and ZCS senior Katie Pitts choreographed the dance.
Members of the ensemble, an auditioned group of VDS dancers, hosted a Cinderella Ball at the studio in February. More than 30 couples attended and enjoyed the evening, which featured not only dancing, but also footmen, Cinderella’s stepmother, a raffle and limousine rides.
Judy Rice, a nationally known dancer and professor at the University of Michigan, taught a Master’s Class for the older VDS students April 15. Rice has performed in television shows and regularly works in Los Angeles.
