NEW—Computer HelpFor Rookies

Tuesday, May 1, 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.Do you wish you knew more about computers and how to use them, but you aren’t sure what questions to ask?  Get one on one instruction with basic computer skills from BCSSI staff member Frances Thurston.  Walk ins welcome.

 

NEW–Support Group

Bereavement Support Group, Tuesday, May 22 andJune 26 from 1:00-2:30 p.m.  “Working through Grief” will meet the fourth Tuesday of each month.  The support group is free and for those who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one.  This is an open support group.  You may attend any of the meetings or just some of the meetings.  Registration not required but would be appreciated.  Contact BCSSI to register.

 

Lunch and Learn

Wednesday, May 2, noon till 1:00 p.m.  Farmer’s Markets will be starting soon in local communities.  Lisa Cangany will tell us how to take advantage of locally grown produce.  Lunch, which is free to the first 25 registrants, will be provided by Homewood Health Campus.

 

Cards

Bridge and Euchre every Wednesday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. immediately following Lunch and Learn.  Location will vary based on facility usage.  For more information, contact Olive Wade at 765-325-2436.

 

NEW-Tai Chi—Level 1

Tuesday, May 1 and Thursday, May 3 from 10:00-11:00 a.m.BCSSI along with the Arthritis Foundation will offer FREE  Tai Chi classes.  This is a six-week course and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday until May 24.   Participants are not required to attend each class.   Our instructor, Laura Michel, Health Promotions Coordinator from American Senior Communities, will focus on improving flexibility, help relieve arthritis pain and stress.  Space is limited.  Contact BCSSI to register.

 

Spring Tea

Thursday, May 3, 2:00-4:00 p.m. hosted by Les Girls.  Don your hat and join the Les Girls for tea.  Special guest is Judy Walburn from Boone County Historical Society.  Judy will present the Cragun House hat and glove collection. Refreshments will be served.  Space is limited.  Please contact Judy Brower at BCSSI by April 26.

 

Fun Fridays in May

May is “Older American” month.  The theme this year is ‘Never Too Old to Play’.   BCSSI will host Fun Friday’s each Friday in May from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  There will be games, prizes and refreshments and entertainment!

Friday, May 4:  Derby Day—BCSSI will host their version of the “greatest spectacle in horseracing”.  Choose a thoroughbred horse, place your bets and cheer them on to victory in the Winners Circle!

Friday, May 11:  BINGO!  Who doesn’t like to play BINGO.

Friday, May 18:  Games—Board and Electronic—Thanks to Spiel Foundation, BCSSI has some fun, new board games just for seniors.  We will also have some traditional choices such as checkers.   If you are more interested in high tech and faster paced games, BCSSI has a variety of Wii Games.
